Panamá la Vieja is the ruined city of the oldest Spanish city founding on the Pacific coast east of today’s Panama City. In 1671 the city was destroyed by the attack by Henry Morgan and then moved to what is now the city area with its new core, Casco viejo.
The Panama Canal locks are a lock system that lifts ships up 85 feet to the main elevation of the Panama Canal and down again. The original canal had a total of six steps for a ship’s passage. The total length of the lock structures, including the approach walls, is over 1.9 miles.

La Calzada de Amador, also known as the Causeway, is the name of a dam that lies at the southern entrance to the Panama Canal.
