Plitvice Lakes National Park
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the largest national park in Croatia in terms of area and also the oldest national park in Southeast Europe. It was founded in 1949 and is located in the hilly karst area of central Croatia not far from the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, directly on an important north-south road connection that connects the interior of Croatia with the Mediterranean coastal region. The protected national park area covers 296.85 square kilometers.
Krka National Park
The Croatian Krka National Park covers an area of 109.5 km² and covers the 45-kilometer stretch of the Krka between Knin and Skradin and the lower reaches of the Čikola tributary. The national park was established in 1985. There is a fee to enter.
Diocletian's Palace
The Diocletian’s Palace is an ancient building complex that served as a retirement home for the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who was the only Roman Emperor to leave office voluntarily in 305 AD, together with his co-emperor Maximian. UNESCO declared the inner city area of Diocletian’s Palace a World Heritage Site in 1979.
Golden Horn
The Golden Horn is one of the most popular beaches in Croatia. It is located on Brač, an island in the Dalmatia region in front of the city of Split on the Adriatic Sea. The beach has the shape of a sickle or a horn. It protrudes from the island a few hundred meters into the sea and consists of small, round pebbles that move with the current over a long period of time. The shape of the beach changes in such a way that the tip points sometimes in one direction, sometimes in the other. This effect is caused by the different water currents and the different water levels.
City walls of Dubrovnik
The Dubrovnik City Walls in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik are the best preserved defensive medieval fortification system in Europe. About two kilometers long, it circles the old town of Dubrovnik from all sides and has become a landmark not only of the old town, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Croatia since 1979.
Paklenica National Park
The Paklenica National Park is a national park in the Velebit mountain range 30 km northeast of the city of Zadar on the Croatian Adriatic Sea and about one kilometer from Starigrad-Paklenica. It was declared a national park in 1949. The highest peaks are Vaganski Vrh with 1757 m. J. and Sveto Brdo Paklenica means “little hell” in Croatian. The name probably came about because of the rough and steep karst rocks that house numerous hidden caves and, when illuminated by the sun, evoke the association with the underworld.
Amphitheater Pula
The Roman amphitheater in Pula is the sixth largest amphitheater of antiquity and one of the best preserved. Although the interior of the building was lost through overexploitation over the centuries, its white limestone facade is largely in its original condition. Since its final expansion, it has consisted of two rows of arcades with 72 arches arranged one above the other and a crowning upper floor, which is broken through by 64 rectangular window niches.
Zagreb Cathedral
The cathedral of Zagreb in the Croatian capital Zagreb, with its two towers that can be seen from afar, is one of the tallest buildings in Croatia and a national cultural asset. It is the episcopal church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zagreb.
Mljet National Park
The Mljet National Park, founded in 1960, forms the western part of the island of Mljet in Croatia.

Telašćica Nature Park is a nature park in Croatia that is located on the southeastern tip of the island of Dugi Otok. What to eat
- PEKA- Baking meat, seafood, and veggies under a bell-like lid, covered in embers
- brudet (brujet, brodeto) is a fish stew.
- Manestra is basically a bean soup.
- Sarma – minced meat and rice with spices stuffing is wrapped in sauerkraut instead of bell peppers
- Kotlovina is a meat specialty popular in Zagreb and northwest Croatia. Different meats and veggies are fried in a big metal dish and then slow-cooked in their own sauce over an open fire.
- Zagrebacki odrezak is a veal escalope, stuffed with a slice of cheese and ham, breaded, and then deep-fried.
- Cevapi is minced meat rolled in a finger-like shape and grilled. They are usually served with pita bread, chopped onions, and red pepper spread called ajvar.
- Black risotto
- Rozata – A custard pudding similar to flan typical for Dubrovnik region
- Krostule – Long thin strips of dough are tied in a loose knot and then deep-fried in oil and sprinkled with powder sugar before serving.
- Fritule are ball-shaped dough made with flour, raisins, a touch of local schnapps and lemon zest, and then deep-fried.
- Palacinke – Croatian pancakes are thin, crepe-style, and come with a variety of spreads.
- Krempite is a Croatian version of the more famed mille-feuilles cake or vanilla slices cake.
