Haleakala National Park
Haleakalā National Park is a United States national park on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Haleakalā is a dormant volcano that last erupted around 1790. The national park was established in 1916 as part of the Hawaiʻi National Park. In 1961 the area was separated from the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and administered independently. The park has been an international biosphere reserve since 1980.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is an approximately 1348 square kilometer biosphere reserve in the southeast of Hawaii, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. In addition to extensive lava fields, the area includes the active volcano Kīlauea. The visitor center of the national park near the town of Volcano is one of the main tourist attractions of the island.
The Diamond Head
The Diamond Head, called Lēʻahi in Hawaiian, is a 232 m high tufa formation on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu and the symbol of Honolulu and Waikīkī. Its English name comes from 19th century sailors who mistook the calcite sprinkles for diamonds. Maunalua Bay is located between Diamond Head in the west and Koko Head in the east.
Nā Pali Coast State Park
Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park lies in the northwest of Kauai Island, Hawaii. It’s known for its towering pali, or sea cliffs, punctuated by narrow valleys, streams and cascading waterfalls. The Kalalau Trail is a steep footpath running through the park, between nearby Ke’e Beach and sandy Kalalau Beach. It cuts through 5 valleys, including the Hanakoa Valley, with its native plants and old agricultural terraces.
Hanauma Bay
Hanauma Hawaiian: is a marine embayment formed within a tuff ring and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oʻahu in the Hawaii Kai neighborhood of East Honolulu, in the Hawaiian Islands.Hanauma is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island and has suffered somewhat from overtourism. At one time, this popular tourist destination accommodated over three million visitors per year. In 1956, dynamite was used to clear portions of the reef to make room for telephone cables linking Hawaii to the west coast of the US.
Kīlauea
Kīlauea is an active shield volcano in the Hawaiian Islands. Located along the southeastern shore of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, the volcano is between 210,000 and 280,000 years old and emerged above sea level about 100,000 years ago. Historically, it is the most active of the five volcanoes that together form Hawaii island. Kīlauea is also one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, and the most recent and currently ongoing eruption began on September 29, 2021, when several vents began to erupt lava within Halemaʻumaʻu, a pit crater in the volcano’s summit caldera.
Kualoa Ranch
Kualoa is a 4,000-acre (1,600 ha) private nature reserve and working cattle ranch, as well as a popular tourist attraction and filming location on the windward coast of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi. It is about 24 miles (39 km) from Honolulu, and 32 miles (51 km) from Haleiwa. The ranch consists of 3 valleys: Kaʻaʻawa Valley, Kualoa Valley, and Hakipuʻu Valley. The ranch is located on Hawaii State Route 83 between Kaʻaʻawa and Waikane. The main street address is 49-560 Kamehameha Highway, Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi 96744.
Akaka Falls State Park
ʻAkaka Falls State Park is a state park on Hawaiʻi Island, in the U.S. state of Hawaii. The park is about 11 miles (18 km) north of Hilo, west of Honomū off the Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) at the end of Hawaii Route 220. It includes its namesake ʻAkaka Falls, a 442-foot (135 m) tall waterfall. ʻAkaka is named after Chief ‘Akaka-o-ka-nī’au-oi’o-i-ka-wao, grandson of Kūlanikapele and Kīakalohia.The accessible portion of the park lies high on the right shoulder of the deep gorge into which the waterfall plunges, and the falls can be viewed from several points along a loop trail through the park. Also visible from this trail is Kahūnā Falls, a 300-foot (91 m) tall waterfall, and several smaller cascades.
Ala Moana Regional Park
Ala Moana Beach Park is a free public park on the island of Oahu, U.S. state of Hawaii, located between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. This 100-acre (0.40 km2) park has a wide gold-sand beach that is over a half-mile (800 m) long.Protected by a shallow reef offshore, it is one of the most popular open ocean swimming sites in Hawai’i, with an estimated 4 million visitors annually. However, there are sharp corals, so most people prefer the east end of the beach (the one that’s closer to Diamond Head) where the ocean bottom is sandy and has no reef or rocks. The middle section and west end of the beach has rocks on the nearshore ocean bottom, which makes entering the ocean trickier. Lifeguards are stationed on the beach daily.
Kalalau Trail
The Kalalau Trail is an 11-mile trail that leads from Ke’e Beach to Kalalau Beach along the Nāpali Coast on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. The Kalalau Trail is in the Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park which is part of the Hawaii State Parks system.The Kalalau Trail provides the only land access to this part of the rugged coast. The 11-mile trail is graded but almost never level as it crosses above towering sea cliffs and through lush valleys. The trail drops to sea level at the beaches of Hanakāpīʻai and Kalalau.

The Byodo-In Temple is a non-denominational Buddhist temple located on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It was dedicated in August 1968 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaiʻi.
Kailua Beach Park
Kailua Beach Park is one of the largest and nicest beach parks on Oahu’s Windward Side. Located towards the southern end of Kailua Bay, Kailua Beach Park offers picnic tables, beach volleyball courts, BBQ pits, picnic shelters, showers, restrooms, plenty of shade, white sand beaches, small shore break for boogie boarding, a calm swimming area, lifeguard stands and stunning views. The most popular activities include Kayaking, Stand Up Paddling and Kitesurfing, as well as sun tanning and relaxing. The largest annual event at Kailua Beach Park is the fireworks display on the fourth of July. The whole town plus visitors come out to watch a spectacular display of fireworks over the bay.
Kilauea Lighthouse
Kīlauea Lighthouse is located on Kīlauea Point on the island of Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi in the Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge.Kīlauea Point, a narrow, lava peninsula protruding from the northern shore of Kauaʻi, was purchased from the Kīlauea Sugar Plantation Company in 1909 for one US dollar.Before construction could begin, a method for delivering supplies to the point had to be developed. Due to the lack of good roads from the Nawiliwili harbor, the decision was made to bring the materials in by sea. The lighthouse tender Kukui would anchor offshore and then dispatch small boats with supplies to a cove near the point. Since there was no beach landing, the boats would anchor to cleats cemented into the lava rocks at the point. A boom derrick, constructed on a ledge above the water, would lift the supplies from the boats and place them on a loading platform 110 feet (34 m) above the water.
Polynesian Cultural Center
The Polynesian Cultural Center is a 42-acre open-air museum in Lāʻie on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu. In seven recreated villages of Hawaii, Tonga, Samoa, Aotearoa, Fiji, Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands along a lagoon, visitors are presented with the craftsmanship, traditional dances and lūʻ from the Polynesians.

The Kīpahulu area of Haleakalā National Park also boasts plenty of self-guided hiking trails that weave through forests of bamboo, past roaring cascades to the green heart of the island. Consider the Pīpīwai Trail, one of the island’s best trails, which leads to the 400-foot Waimoku Falls. Make sure to consult park rangers at the Kīpahulu Visitor Center before you embark on this three- to five-hour hike. Expect to get muddy, and don’t forget your hiking shoes.
