Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve
Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is a nature reserve situated in the Cayo District of southern central Belize. It was established in 1944 with the intention of protecting and maintaining Belize’s natural pine forests.While palm trees and tropical woodlands predominate in Belize’s coastal region, the landscape is changing in the oldest and largest protected area in the country, which spans 430 square kilometers. Great Blue Hole-Belize Barrier Reef
With a maximum depth of 125 meters and a diameter of about 300 meters, the Great Blue Hole is nearly round in shape. Altun Ha
The Maya city of Altun Ha has fallen. It is about 45 kilometers north of Belize City and ten kilometers west of the Caribbean Sea.The tallest temple at Altun Ha is about sixteen meters high. Of the most important finds is a jade head that is 15 cm tall and weighs 4.5 kilograms. K’inich Ajaw, the sun god, is represented by it.
An significant archaeological zone from the Classic Period (200-900 A.D.) is Altun Ha (Rockstone Water). It is near the Caribbean Sea and connected the sea routes that traded up and around the Yucatan Peninsula with the trade from the Highlands and other interior locations. The largest known jade artifact from the Maya region is the most significant of the several exotic trade items found here.

Xunantunich
The Mayan remains of Xunantunich are located in Belize, some 13 kilometers southwest of San Ignacio, on a bluff above the Mopan River. A complex of twenty-five temples and palaces is centered on six plazas. The structure was abandoned about 900 years ago, and it wasn’t discovered until the end of the 1800s by Thomas Gann. Archaeological study has been carried out since 1930.

The Mayan ruins at Lamanai are located in Belize, on the banks of a 30-mile-inland lagoon of the New River. This Mayan metropolis is one of the oldest towns ever, having been continuously inhabited for more than 3,000 years. Unlike most other Mayan remains, Lamanai was still inhabited when the Spanish arrived in Belize in the sixteenth century. The ruins are reachable by boat from Orange Walk Town, across the New River.

The Belize Zoo, located halfway between Belize City and Belmopan, is the biggest zoo in Belize, Central America. The Belize Zoo is currently the only place where native animals are kept. Within the zoo’s twelve hectares, over 125 different animal species from the region are on exhibit. Hole National Park
St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park is a small national park in Belize’s Cayo District. The property was acquired by the state during the 1960s and 1970s, and it was made a national park in December 1986. It is two kilometers square in area.
Over 500 acres (200 ha) of lush tropical rainforest make up St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park, which is 12 miles (20 km) southeast of Belmopan along the Hummingbird Highway. Over 200 bird species and a variety of fauna, including howler monkeys, who are frequently heard throughout the jungle, may be found at the park, which is overseen by the Belize Audubon Society.
