Things to do

After admiring the impressive architecture as we strolled through the city center, we ate Butterbreze while taking in the scenery. These recollections are what we have:

Leonhardi Chapel

The carpenters of Tölz made a commitment during the Christmas of the Sendlinger Murder in 1705 to erect a chapel as a memorial in the event that they returned home safely. This promise was kept upon the evacuation of the Austrian occupants and the arrival of Elector Max Emanuel. The Catholic Leonhard Chapel was constructed beginning in 1718 to honor the Mother of God, St. Josef, St. Johann Baptist, and St. Leonhard, the two patron saints of crafts.

The 18th century cattle epidemics led to an upsurge in his worship, and the consecrated votive chain surrounding the chapel since 1743 is also dedicated to him. However, the chapel and the Kreuzkirche, which was constructed later, were not dedicated until 1726. Consecrations as early as 1722 are mentioned in other sources.

Mühlfeldkirche

One of Tölz’s two settlement peaks was the Mühlfeld that was first mentioned in 1392. At this point, there was already a kapelle in place.Name-giving mushrooms appeared there, on the Ellbach above the castle.

Before Gabriel von Seidl turned this structure into a municipal hall in 1903, it was a brewery and restaurant. An account of the town’s history, the rafting industry, the growth of the spa town, and the Tölz craft awaits visitors to the first floor, which also houses a collection of geological and prehistorical finds in the cellar. From the 17th to the middle of the 19th century, the renowned Tölz carpenters created chests, beds, boxes, and cots, which are the main subject of the show.

The residents of Bad Tölz’s daily lives are chronicled on the second floor. There are rooms that chronicle the town’s residents’ daily lives, as well as a gallery with paintings by local artists like Josef Wenglein and pictures of town residents. In addition, there are firearms, musical instruments, and marionettes from the municipal collection. There is religious art on the third floor. Here are two beautifully restored eighteenth-century house chapels. The cultural history portion is concluded with traditional clothes from Upper Bavaria.

The Calvary, located on a hill near the town of Bad Tölz in Upper Bavaria, features a baroque ensemble that includes the 18th-century chapels of the Cross, the Catholic Holy Cross double church, the Leonhardi chapel, and the actual Calvary with Mount of Olives, Golgotha hill, and prison chapel.

Maria Himmelfahrt

Maria Himmelfahrt, the parish church, is situated in the heart of Bad Tölz. It is the oldest structure still standing in the Isarwinkel and a foundational structure in the Tölz skyline. August 15, the feast day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, is dedicated to honoring the patron saint of the church. The oldest Tölz cemetery was situated beside the church until 1615. Today, a few of these tombstones are set into the church’s outside wall.

Bad Tölz city center

Located in Bavaria, Germany, Bad Tölz (German: [baːt ˈtoeltʡs]; Bavarian: Däiz) serves as the administrative hub of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district.Since the glaciers retreated at the end of the Ice Age, the location of Bad Tölz has been continuously occupied, according to archeology. For instance, there exist artifacts from both Roman Raetia and the Hallstatt civilization, or at the very least, Romanized Celt occupancy.Around the end of the 12th century, the name “Tölz” (sometimes spelled “Tolnze”) first appears in written records. In ancient sources, the word “Reginried” refers to a village that was part of the monastery at Tegernsee, which is most likely the same as Reid in the western portion of Mühlfeld.
